Sign Language Services

Classes are offered online for hearing individuals from GRADE NINE and up.  A variety of course times and levels are offered over 4 semesters during the year (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall). ASL Instructors are certified to teach using the Signing Naturally Curriculum.

Our annual Summer Immersion Camp is for adults 18 years of age and older.  No talking is permitted as participants are completely immersed in American Sign Language.  Camp runs at the Ontario Camp of the Deaf in Parry Sound.  Fees include 6 nights and 7 days accommodation, meals, two classes per day and a variety of recreational activities. Individuals are able to complete one level of the Signing Naturally Curriculum.

Twice per year, we operate a weekend retreat at the Ontario Camp of the Deaf in Parry Sound.  These 2 nights and 3 days include accommodation, meals, workshops and activities.  This is an ASL immersion environment for adults ages 18 and up.

Complete a Signing Naturally Level in just one week by attending one of the summer ASL Immersion weeks.  Levels ASL 1A to 1D are offered during the day at the Bob Rumball Centre in Toronto and are for individuals in Grade 9 and up.

 

In partnership with Humber College, this 10 hour (2 day) interactive workshop will introduce participants to strategies and techniques for dealing with individuals in the deaf community in first contact emergency situations.
