Home (B.R.H.D.)

The Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf is the only long-term care facility in Canada which is specifically designed to meet the needs of Deaf seniors.  Emphasis is placed on communication and eliminating the isolation many Deaf seniors experience, while also offering services to hearing seniors.

Located in Barrie, the small 64-bed Home provides a home-like atmosphere while supporting resident’s independence, sense of belonging and dignity.

The Home is on one floor and is visually stimulating with big windows for bright lighting, spacious halls and three large courtyards. The Home offers basic and private rooms, small dining rooms and lounge areas, a Chalet which is a multi-purpose room, and a snoozellen room, all available to residents. Services include: 24-hour nursing care, physicians, physiotherapy, personal support workers (PSW) to assist with the activities of daily living. Activities and programs are directed by residents. Housekeeping, hairdressing services, foot care, dental and eye clinics are also available. All meals are cooked on site.
