The Bob Rumball Centre for the Deaf
The Bob Rumball Centre for the Deaf is a multi-purpose, multi-program facility that functions both as a community centre for the Deaf, and as a provider of services to the Deaf. The Centre operates a wide variety of programs, as well as offering a home for the activities and offices of Deaf groups and associations. Several of our programs are residential, with apartments on site, and so the Centre is also home to Deaf seniors and Deaf people with special needs.
Day Program
The Day Program offers meaningful experiences and activities to deaf persons with complex needs, aiming to build on the strengths and interests of the individual while still meeting the common needs of the group. Individuals in the program must have a developmental disability, can also have a physical disability or have complex medical issues in addition to deafness.
Activities include:
  • Crafts
  • Woodworking
  • Computing
  • Social activities
  • Sports
  • Planting and gardening
  • Packaging
  • Outings into the community

Friends in the Community
The Day Program at Bob Rumball Centre for the Deaf has recently implemented a ‘Healthy Living’ program and many of the individuals and staff are very excited to get the activities moving in full swing! The staff is confident that this new curriculum will be a fun way to keep the interest of the group going, a good teaching opportunity about the importance of exercise and will allow Day Program individuals to be involved in fun and energetic sports activities! But none of this would be possible without the support from friends in our community who have graciously donated all of the sports equipment. Special thanks to our friends at Canadian Tire stores at 825 Eglinton Ave. E. and 1901 Eglinton Ave. E. And Play It Again Sports at 5863 Yonge Street. Let the games begin!!
